Had Rob and his buddy Nat out for some fly bass today just insanely good fishing up on top. Great day cant wait to do it again. They are some of the best fly fisherman I've had on the boat awesome day guys.

24/10-30/10 at Cape Cod with Capt.Dom and Josh from Outermostangling.

We were a group of 7 scandinavians that came over on a testtrip for a travel agency called Getawaytours. First of all I want to thank Dom and Josh for taking such good care of us. Just not the fishing but everything that makes a good trip also on land.
First day we didnt caught any tuna but we allready then saw the possibillites in this area. We saw a lot of huge tuna crashing around the boat. We had some followers but they werent really interested. We caught some bluefish that would have been great fun on light tackle. And we saw humpbackwhales.

Second day were pretty much like the first one and we had a pause when the humpbacks put up a little show for us.

But after the whale show Per get thight with a good size tuna on Dom.s boat.
After his worst fight ever he manage to get a very nice 71" BFT to the boat.
He made the day for all of us. The tuna fell for a Dorado slider. Rod werew a Shimano Caranx Caibutsu deep monster and Stella 18000 SW.

Third day doesnt look good on the forecast so we cancel and have a "tourist" day in Plymouth. Good temps and a very nice town with alot of good food saves the day.
Fourth day is a planned day of. So Dom. takes us to Green Harbor bait & tackle and Basspro for some shopping.

Fifth day we get out again and I have one of my best days ever.
We hook up 7 tunas and get four of them. Gabriel gets the biggest on the trip a very nice 72,5" fish that he used 35-40min to get to the boat.
This one ate a RonZ. Rod were a Bar-Bar Seeker Hercules 60H and a Dogfight.

I get one 68" fish and two att around 55". I also fight a fish that Josh hooked for a while when he drives the boat. All were hooked on RonZ. Rod were JM 400g with Stella 20000 SW.
The bite were crasy for a while we had double hook ups twice this day.
The other boat also have some contacts but the hook came loose on them.

Sixth day both boats get thight several times but its only Patrick that gets his fish to the boat a nice 55" fish that I dont have any pic of. It took a RonZ
and rod were a Shimano jigwrex 400g and Stella 10000 F.
Kim get tight with a big one that almost spool his 10000 SW and finally he breaks the rod after 20-25min battle. The conditions were really tuff to day.

I have a dual boat trip with Capt. Dom for 7 days -- looks like we will only get 3 with the weather. First off, this is topwater-only; the group does not jig, and this makes for a bit of a challenge. The last two trips (Wednesday and Thursday) the fish we've been seeing are a mixed bag with a wide range of sizes from peanuts, and I mean peanuts. I saw fish that were only 10-15 pounds at best and in the same area we saw 65 to 68 inch fish launch right out of the water. Both boats had their shots with boils and some run-offs. Second day my lady and guys manage to come tight on a nice fish, getting it to the boat in record time. I hope we can get them back OTW before they depart for the long journey home. All the rods and lures were prototype stuff, and I hope Kil can fill us in on the anglers names and gear used. The lures are very nice and are all hand-made. It would be nice to get them hooked into a 200 pound class fish while they are here. Lets hope the weather will cooperate.

Had a great time today with Ken, Peter, and Tetsu. Big schools of fish chasing butterfish the size of your pinky nail, proved to be very frustrating. We did get some boils on plugs but no joy. Moved to the Cod grounds fourth drop and I come tight to a bluefin. The guys fought him for an hour got him to the boat a couple of times but he won the battle for his freedom 65 inch that was fun on light tackle. Moved to another locale and had fish crashing halfbeaks set up and bam the capt comes tight to a real nice fish. after an hour of back and forth we get him boatside only to have the leader break, oh well thats fishing. I will post pics later. Just wanted to thank Capt Jeff Smith for giving the heads up on the second fish and also to Capt Dom for all of his great work out there its always a pleasure to see the Speedy and Dusky on the horizon. The fall run is starting to shape up nicely. Give me a call if you want to get out there.

Tuff day today but managed to pull a nice 65 incher on rubber. Keith and Tom really whipped this fish getting him to the boat in 20 minutes. This fish was in top shape, we swam him and released. Went down south and marked a ton of fish had one more grab with a run off. That was it, caught a few bass and headed to the barn. Hauled my pots and slammed the lobster 23 keepers and a bunch of shorts. Nice day OTW. I will post pics when I get them.

I would like to thank Capt Dom for sending me this trip. He is a top notch captain. If you are looking to catch a big bluefin on light tackle or jig he is the man.

Had Kil and the guys up from N.J. today. It started a little slow with a couple of small bunches crashing but could not get close. Moved to another locale and found some life. Small bunches crashing the surface but once again up and down. The scope was showing plenty of bait so we started vertical jigging — fifth drop and I come tight to a nice fish. After 45 minutes we leader and long release a nice healthy 68 inch fish to a pulled hook boat side. We stick with it a little longer and I have a grab, but no love. We pick up again and look for some topwater stuff. We did find some real slobs feeding on mackerel and Kil got hammered on the RonZ but the fish did not get the hook. I think we all had good shots at this bunch but they were gone with the wind. Head to the Race and find a couple of sporadic bunches, just could not get the right shot at them. Nice day at the office..

Today Matt, Eric and John had some great bluefin action. Lots of shots and the fish were very eager to hit we had many boils on plugs. John got tight on a nice fish 45 minutes and 65 inch fish released. We had lots of brief hookups but no love. Moved to another spot and the fish were very receptive to the plugs Eric hooked a nice 53 slot fish. He got this fish to the boat in under 2 minutes and we put him in the box. I have never seen a bluefin come in this quick my hats off to Eric for a job well done. The fish were very happy to eat with all guys having boil after boil on everything we threw at them. All in all a great day OTW. I will post some pics soon..

Guys the fishing is still really good. I have been seeing lots of fish on top. The weather has been a little frustrating. Did start to mark stuff down so the vertical bite should start to happen as well. I had Bret B and friends last week and I am sure he can tell us the amount of fish around is still strong. Also Sami G came up for a day and I put them on some great feeds although the fish were moving fast we had some nice shots at them.. Getting on the down side of the moon will be key to get the fish back into a comfortable routine.

I have some dates open and the fishing will not disappoint, give me a call..

Today was a very good day with our first fish coming early in the shallows. Lots of sporadic bunches but Dave managed to get tight on a Got Stryper prototype. This fish was tough, but Dave showed him the Miami way of willing him to the boat. After 40 minutes we released a nice 73 inch fish. Then we changed locales to find some great topwater feeds. We had many up close and personal feeds all around the boat. Fish were feeding on mac's and were very explosive. Sami G was the man with these fish, fighting 6 (most fights were 20-30 minutes before pulling the hook), getting 2 boatside and blowing up one rod which was a prototype. We still managed to get this fish boatside and released him as well. All in all a great day OTW with Sami, Raymond and Dave. Hope we can do it again.

Insane feeds today huge schools of fish everywhere. Fish were blowing macs out of the water, there were some of the best feeds I have seen in a couple of weeks.

Jonathan and the guys from NYC put a hurting on a bunch of fish to 74". They could not pull on them anymore, we left fish to head to the barn. Thanks to John for putting the trip together and for making the trek up from the city to see what Cape Cod bluefin jigging and popping is all about. They will be adding some video and pics later.. Also we used there custom rods with Stella and Daiwa reels with some high end plugs. I will let them post up the details.

Fog and southeast swell

The fishing has been great in spite of some challenges —I have been fighting the southeast swell and more fog than you could imagine. Yesterday we fought a 100-lb bluefin on a bass setup for 40 minutes; although we had him very close the Cabo 40 and Boca rod were no match for this speedster and we lost him. The bass fishing continues to be awesome with fish to 30 lbs. Today we had three hookups with fights ranging from 25 minutes to five seconds. One fish was hooked in 20 feet of water, what a first run he made -- but he broke off. The big tides continue to be a menace. I think it's time for this guy to start fishing some of my giant haunts to the north as some other captains have been faring well up there.

I do have some openings this week and I have one person lined up for an open charter on Sunday. If you are interested in teaming up on the trip let me know.

Today was a nice day got to put a 13 year old on a fish that was bigger than him. Great bass feeds fish to 28 lbs and tuna to 71 " can't beat that I am spent had two to the boat and 5 hook-ups. Back at it in the morning.

Today Kil, his son Steve, Yoshi and I went looking for a little bluefin. Found them right away -- they were a little sporadic but feeding nonetheless. After a little chase we were tight. I hooked and fought the first one, had it to the boat in 15 minutes. It taped out at 71"; we swam and released it to fight another day. Spent the next hour or so chasing smashing fish for a couple of miles with a few grabs but no takers. Yoshi had a slob hit on one of his custom plugs, but he was so big I think he just pushed the plug away with his sheer mass in the water. We had breezing fish for miles. One more bunch and Kil gets tight. We all smile as this one kicks our butts for an hour and 20 minutes. Get him to the boat; tape says 72.5. We swim and release him — probably a commercial fish but we were not interested in pulling him in the boat for a measurement. Chased up-and-down fish for miles with a few grabs but no solid hook-ups.

Just before we called it a day we encountered a mother humpback and her calf. The mother was tangled in lobster gear. Called the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies' entanglement hotline (1-800-900-3622) and stood by the whale till the rescuers could get to the scene. Glad we could help.

After this week I have ample openings for tuna trips. The fishing has been excellent and the half-beaks are starting to show, which makes for explosive fishing. Call or e-mail to book a trip.

Today was unreal. 9 hookups 2 to the boat it was very sloppy out there lost a commercial after 2 hour battle just sick. We left fish, my guys could not reel anymore. Had the stella locked down and the fish was still peeling out line. Please give me a call if you are ready to tackle one these slobs. I will post some pics later just shot after today.

Full moon tuna

Today John, Patrick and Albert saw an amazing whale show – humpbacks breaching as far as the eye could see. The tuna fishing wasn’t bad either. First fish of the day was a sleeper; I thought it was a bass as it never made a run, but after a minute we knew it was Charlie and he woke up. 20 minutes later we had a nice 59” slot fish — in the box he goes. Get back on the school and first cast we are tight again. Different story with this one: big run, the BH 8’ graphite owned this fish but the 28 pounds of drag kicked the anglers’ butts. After a 35-minute fight we swim and release a nice 70” fish. Back up and have a pulled hook on another nice BFT. The guys are spent at this point so we go and enjoy some of the great bass fishing that has been around the waters off Cape Cod. Great day OTW — also nice to see my friend Bob P out there as he boated a nice 65” fish for release with his nephew captaining the DH

About Thursday, all I can say is EPIC... We were all shot, some of the best fishing I have ever seen and I have been around. 6 fish to the boat 4 pulled hooks after 15 to 20 minutes -- that was a blessing. I can't even count the missed hookups, most of the action coming on RONZ, RONZ, RONZ. The Black Hole rods were excellent in handling all fish 65 to 72 inches. Back to the dock at noon and right back at it in the a.m.

Friday's trip was a buzz kill after the previous day's melee. The fish were there but too many googans for me. We managed to get some quality shots, Jin got one nice fish to the boat and we had a few hookups. Some of the fish are shrimping, meaning they are very hard to get hooked up. Overall a great day OTW with some of the nicest people. Looking forward to fishing with Jin and Jerome again. Thanks guys.

The other day I had the pleasure of fishing with Capt Rob Glasser, fly only and we crushed them. The fishing was non-stop for hours with greasy calm conditions. Could not have hit it any better. You don't see this kind of action every day.

Yesterday I had Kil and the guys out again, lots of fish early on top with a couple of pulled hooks. Then we covered some ground trying to find fish to ourselves, found plenty of whales but no tuna. Back to the morning's numbers and they are blowing up small herring. Very sporadic up and down so we start jigging on some bait and hook-up. Sweet great day OTW. 66" fish released boatside.

Today I had Sam and Phil for a half day bass trip. Started a little slow but we finished up catching a whole bunch of bass and blues. As always, I really have a great time with Sam and his friends. Looking forward to doing it again.

Sunday I had Kilsong and his two friends up from New Jersey. The weather was not looking great NOAA said 2o southeast and low vis but we went for it anyway. We found the fish right away smashing the surface first couple of throws and we are tight. This fish is large and almost spools us so we make chase. Long story short after 1 hour and 45 min we have the fish boat side and he is still being bad. This is a commercial fish. I miss with one poon shot, we try to work him up again but the line gets wrapped on the tip and off he goes. Work back to the numbers and they are still there. We get doubled up losing one and fighting the other for 45 min and releasing the fish boat side 72 inches. Great day with conditions very tough we still managed to find them. Thanks to Kil and his friends for a nice day lets do it again.

Today I had my friend Bob Pink out for a day of madness. We had Easterly winds all day yesterday and I was a little skeptical this a.m. as to what the inlet would be like. I thought right; we had solid eights at the inlet and with a dumping tide it was a little unnerving, but my Seacraft took it well and we made it out. The fishing grounds had 4 to 6 foot tight swells with a couple of 8's thrown in. Nice. We found the fish quickly and went tight on an Ocean Lure plug. Had him on for a while and pulled the hook.

The fish today were charged up and feeding on herring and macks. This went on for four hours — we would hook up, fight the fish 30 minutes, and pull the hook boat side. We had some of the best topwater takes I have ever seen. Four fish to the boat with clean releases, at least five more hookup's with run off's, and lots of swings and misses. After all that we moved in and found the bass; we had acres of big bass feeding on top with tuna mixed in. Salty's Needles were the name of the game inshore, with the Got-Strypers a close second. All in all some of the best fishing I have ever seen. Hopefully it will continue. I think Bob might need some help getting out of the truck when he gets home..

Spent the last couple of days on the tuna and it has been sick. Went 4 for 8 the other day with many more missed hookups. Also had fish in the 450 lbs range pile onto topwater plugs with reckless abandon. The fish are hungry and feeding on herring, macks, and sandeels. This has been some of the best fishing I have ever seen in early June and the bass fishing has been even better with acre after acre schools of hungry bass...

The fishing around the Cape has been top shelf. Had a fly trip the other day with two guys who really put the fish on the boat. Coach and Richard were great fly guys, they got the job done. They are to of the best casters I have had on the Osprey. With acres of big bass all over the surface it was a sight to be seen. Big bass feeding on 6 inch herring they are putting on the weight. We also enjoyed plenty of shots at finicky tuna but just could not finish the deal. All in all a great day on the water...

This weekend I had the pleasure of taking out Dick and his son Daniel for some light tackle fun and it was a blast to say the least. The first day was quite windy and we had to fish jigs; they produced well but the wind would not lay down and we hit the barn early to save some energy for the next day. Got a decent early start the next morning despite the negative tides. This paid off as we caught lots of bass and a few bluefish. Most of the action was on top with explosive takes, what a great morning. Then we opted to go chase tuna and this was a good choice as the fish were all over the place, smashing sea herring. Daniel had multiple shots right in the feeding frenzy with plenty of swings and misses and the captain had a couple of run offs but could not keep one stuck. The fish are very aggressive and are looking like they are going to be 65 to 75 inch range this year so it will be a very serious game. They are bruisers and need to be fished that way, so gear up. Thanks for an awesome couple of days and I look forward to the next one.

Mid week I had Doc and Seuss for three days. We covered all the bases, fishing the ocean and bay, skinny water to as much as 200 ft. The fishing has been great and did not disappoint, with fish coming on the fly as well as light tackle. The sheer numbers of bass ranging in all sizes was great to see. We did look for charlie but the one day we had a chance to look we did not see that much and the numbers of bass kept us catching. We did manage a few slob bluefish in the mix but they are slow to make a showing. The tuna are knocking on our door and should be here very shortly. Seems as though everything is early with all the nice weather we're having.

Today Alan and I had a fish outing shakedown run of my boat the Osprey. Saw plenty of big stuff but they were on the shy side. Did manage a few on the fly and some vertical, sweet day, back at it in the morning. The new got-stryper baits performed great, and I cant wait to see how they preform this year check them out at your local tackle shop.

Cape Cod fishing 2010

The start of a new year is always something to look forward to. I have been working on the boat like a dog, and it will pay off soon. I managed to get some cod trips in they were very productive with great catches. As we speak the bass and blues are filtering in to Cape cod bay in decent numbers with some rather large stuff being caught. The South side has been slow but with the squid and sand-eels moving in it will only be a matter of days before the flats and rips start to produce. There have been some sightings of bluefin in small amounts and the bait on the bank has been thick herring, macs and sand-eels. The herring runs have been productive as well and that is a great sign for the forage the bigger fish need. There also seems to be a good charge of pogies around as well, all in all it is shaping up to be a great season for us on the sandbar we call home.

Snuck one in the other day. Steve and I had an awesome day with many spinning rod hook ups. The first fish of the day to make it boat side came on the fly. Steve made short work of this fish, putting the right amount of pressure and keeping him tight. After a 16 minute battle we had the fish to the boat and iced him down. Great job. We then went on bunch after bunch, hooking up and having a lot of missed takes on the fly stick. All in all a great day on the water with ideal conditions for October. The year is winding down for us up here on Cape Cod, the water temps are in the mid fifties, the fish will be around till the end of November but we shall see if they stay in the numbers that we've been seeing. I would like to give a big thanks to my friend Captain Jeff Smith for throwing me trips when he was too busy during the '09 season. This has greatly helped me, as this is my first year chartering full time.

Today I fished with Alan and his friend Matt -- an action-packed day on the water, awesome conditions. The fish were all over halfbeaks, balling them up and crashing through the schools at Mach speed. The takes were some of the best I have ever seen on topwater. All fish were taken on OCEAN LURES plugs. Just a great day.

Had another great day on the water with Capt Jeff Smith and Capt Gill Burke. We went 1 for 4 on fish that were charged up after the blow yesterday. They were brutes, most fights went for a half an hour. The bait is not as thick as the day before but we managed some nice fish. The takes on plugs OCEAN LURES have been very explosive and the vertical RONZ still gets it done. I'm totally spent after today -- way too many fish in the last couple of weeks. It will only get better as the fall is upon us and the fish will feed heavy. Just hope the weather will hold up. Back at it again tomorrow, hope to get one stuck on the fly. The last couple of days have been epic for the topwater tuna feed. I have enjoyed some of the best fishing ever. The fish are averaging close to seventy inches and the spinning tackle has brought them to the boat in good time with an average of 15 minutes per fight, with clean releases. The single hooks all have been in the corner of the mouth and the fish have been easily swum and let go to fight another day. If you are looking to tackle one of these bruisers look me up as the fishing should only get better with the fall upon us. Today I had 10 hook-ups, brought four to the boat; the others were clean hook pulls after a short battle. The troll bite will also get hot so if you prefer to do that we can accommodate you.

The other day I had Mike, Tac, Frank and Ed out for a half day of bass fishing. The topwater feed was on and we nailed lots of fish on top. The jigs also caught a fair amount with most of the big stuff coming down deep. This was a great morning of fishing. I know the guys had a great day, lots of fillets to go around. Till next time.

Today I had some great boys out for some bass fishing -- Juan, Eli, and Lavi. The fishing started out a little slow but we managed to get the bass to bite. Lots of 5 to 10 pound fish, and we did boat about a dozen quality fish in the 15 to 25 range. The weather left a lot to be desired with pea soup fog but the fishing made up for that. Glad they came out and had some fun before they head back to school. Great day I will see you next year.

Yesterday I had Blake on the boat for a short day of combo fishing. Sundays are so hard on the water -- the googens are all over the place -- but it was his last day on the Cape and the only day I had open. We started off at all the local haunts, seeing some splashers but nothing to get worked up over. Ran a few miles and set up with vertical jigging outfits, marked some tuna but had no luck. We did manage to pull out some nice bass up to thirty pounds. That put a smile on our faces. Working out east only to find groups of humpbacks and not a lot of feed for them so we pushed on and found the mother lode of pushing fish up on top. It was a mixed bag of tuna, some in the one hundred class range and some much bigger. We left them for the stick boats. Blake had multiple shots with not a lot of joy, but that's tuna fishing. It takes patience. As the fish get bigger they are acting more like giants every day, and with the amount of live bait kite fisherman out there It can be hard to get bites. The fish are getting an early education.

top shelf fishing

The light tackle fishing has been getting better and better every day this week. My guys today -- Andy, and his sons Sam and Theo -- had a top shelf day with fish coming on every cast on top water baits and vertical jigs. I think it was the best day of the week so far, we boated at least thirty bass from 15 to 25 pounds. Andy decided to pick up the fly rod and caught fish on every cast; the fly-caught fish were some of the best of the day till the pressure pushed the fish out and to deeper water. Then we moved to the parking lot to catch a few small bass and some monster blues. All in all a great day with the boys. They are great anglers and I am looking forward to having them again.

hundreds of cow bass on top

Today was an epic day. I have not seen as many cow bass in a long time, there were hundreds upon hundreds of cows lazying around on the surface and we had a great time catching them on light tackle and the fly. Dick was amazed at the sheer amount of fish we encountered, quite mind-boggling. We spent the better part of four hours catching them, and as the sun came out of the clouds the fish sunk out and you would never know there were any fish in this area. The next spot we tried held monster blues that were tackle busters to say the least. I am always impressed by how hard they will fight to be free again. All in all a great light tackle day on Cape Cod Bay. I think that Dick will be back with his son next week and I will work hard to put them on the quality fish of this morning.

Today I had the pleasure of taking Sam Gotoff and his family out for a half day of light tackle fishing. Right out of the gate we had some really nice fish, some on top and more down on the vertical jigging set ups. Sam's son in law was the high hook of the day, with his son James a close second. The fishing was steady all morning and the conditions were just right, the guys were tight on every drift and you could not have asked for a better morning. Looking forward to doing it again, hope you guys have a great summer on Cape Cod.

On Friday, I had the pleasure of fly-fishing with Frank Vari. He is from my dad's neck of the woods: the Tampa area. We started off teasing blues and bass to the fly -- after a while of this I decided to check out a couple of places that had produced big fish the night prior, but they had moved on. We headed to the parking lot to see if we could bail a few on the vertical jig; this proved not that easy as the fish are so keyed in on live eels. So we went back to the original spot and spent the next four hours catching keeper bass on the fly, bent rods on every drift. The super hair sandeel was the ticket as the tide was reaching its max flood. Just a great day on the water with Frank, looking forward to getting him out again and sharing some more memories. I think next year he will be staying on the Outer Cape as his family loves our beaches. Hope I made your vacation here a good one.

summer daze

On Wednesday, I had a great father and son trip; Andy and Chase were up to the sporty conditions. We were attempting to do a combo bass and tuna but the wind had other ideas. Pushed up to the bank we did find some life and started marking stuff, plenty of bait and tuna at 50 feet. We worked it pretty hard as other reports from out east were null. Managed to pull some quality bass out but no tuna joy. Moved back inshore to find blues and bass in the melee of boats, this was only a 6.5 hour trip so we worked things pretty quickly to fit it all in. At the end of the day we pulled some of my lobster pots and they went home with a nice dinner of bass and lobster. Hope to get them back in a couple of weeks and we can get some better shots at bluefin..

Fishing the lights

Today I had the pleasure of taking out Steve and Cheryl, what a nice couple. We had a slow start as the launch was delayed because of the fireworks being loaded to the barge outside the Pamet. Once we got rolling things were fine despite the foggy conditions. I checked out a couple of spots that had fished pretty well days prior but the fish were being uncooperative, so we moved to find some stuff that would eat. The fish were on the deep edges suspended, but were happy to take anything you threw at them. They are still packed with squid and sandeels and any other baitfish that might be paddling around the bay. All in all had a real nice half day trip with great light tackle results. Looking forward to doing it again.

Guides' day off

Today it was guides' day off so Jeff and I geared up the Osprey and figured we would try something different. Launched out of Chatham and ran east, loads of mackerel all over the place with nothing in chase. It will be something to see when the tuna find this bait. Ran a little more northeast to find lots of dirty water, a few whales and not much bait. A friend was in the area and he had some activity on the troll, so we pushed out to where he was to find the mother lode of shearwaters and bait. Started the vertical jigging. On the second move we got bit and managed to get out of the bird melee; the fish ran a couple of hundred yards of line off the reel. I quickly got some line back and put the screws to this fish -- got it to the boat in 10 minutes, pretty impressive the drag pressure you can get out of the right spinning reel and rod combo. The setup was a Stella 18 and a Van Stahl jigging stick, both very well matched. The fish was 64 inches. By this time the south wind kicked up and we had a good run back to the inlet. Great day on the water.

Swing and miss

Today I had some great kids on board, Jason and Michael, and Jason's father Dan. Started off with some topwater fishing that netted some keepers, then went to vertical jigging. We caught plenty of keeper bass and packs of large bluefish on light tackle. Dan suggested that we might go looking for tuna so off we went, found plenty of life with fish free-jumping around the boat but did not get bit; we watched whales for a little while then decided to make a move. Ran into the bay and found fish pushing, got set up and fired the baits right into the mix. I think both Dan and myself had fish boil on the bait but no luck. We did get to see the fish up close as one almost bounced off the side of the boat. All in all a great day on the water - I look forward to seeing them again next summer.

Foggy days

Today I had Mike and his family out for a day of bass,blues and tuna. The bass fishing was great, though we did not spend that much time at it as we were in search of charlie. Ran into the fog big time; we did find some life but not quite what we wanted. Ended the day back on the bass grounds with lots of bass and blues. Had a great day with the guys -- hopefully they will be back to do it again and next time I will get some pics as I was busy releasing all the topwater fish we could handle.

Topwaters

Today I had the pleasure of taking out Mike and his friend Doug. The morning brought us thick fog but we managed to get some fish boatside. After a couple of moves we got onto the crazy topwater bite that went on for miles. The fish were thick all up on top and would strike at will, what a great morning of fishing. Thanks for the day guys looking forward to doing it again...

Fished with Carrie and Hugh the other day. We had a great time despite the weather, wind and rain but that's fishing. I am looking forward to getting them back for a better day. Tuna Fever

Today I had my first tuna trip of the season and it was just an incredible day on the water. Tommy and Lou and Lou's son Stephen, who are all accomplished anglers, had their work cut out for them. We had multiple swings and misses on the topwater -- finally got hooked up on the vertical. Stephen fought this fish like a veteran angler but had to pass the rod off to his dad due to fatigue, and after a short battle we pulled the hook boat side. Then we moved a little south and got back into the game. On the third drop, Tommy got tight again. This fish did make it in the boat, taping out at 62 inches (and I'm guessing at 140 pounds), and was full of sandeels. We also caught some bass and blues in the mix, and had a great whale show to boot. Even the weather cooperated. Just a great day on the water. Thanks for the trip, guys. Looking forward to having you out again. I would also like to thank Capt. Jeff Smith who put me in touch with Tommy and Lou.

Today I had Chris Gates and his friend Chris from Colorado for a half day of bass fishing. Lots of wind and rain but that's what makes for great fishing. We had more topwater fish than you can shake a stick at, and were finding the quality fish down in the water column. Great morning with these guys, hopefully we can do it again when the weather will cooperate a little more. I hope the sun will shine for them on their vacation on the Cape.

Titanic days

Fished the last three days with Andy and Jay, what great people. These guys met on a plane going to different fishing lodges in Tierra del Fuego. They have been traveling to angling destinations all around the world ever since — what a great friendship. Over the last three days we caught some awesome topwater bass and blues on Jay's new Titanic slider. If you want a really quality topwater popper that produces some of the best takes on top, is very durable and reasonable to cast even in 20-knot winds, this is the one. Check out his website at www.amazingflies.com. This was their first trip to the Northeast for striped bass and bluefish, and I think it exceeded their expectations. Can't wait to get you guys back out here, and get Andy that first 150-plus pound tuna on the feather.

Today was one of those days that I will remember for a long time. Richard and Anthony were two of the nicest people you would want to fish with. Great fly fishermen who know what it takes to bring fish to the boat. Looking forward to getting them back out on the water again, and getting a tuna stuck. Great day guys, thanks.

Fished Macs and rubber today with Jeff. One word: we crushed them. Off the water by 11:30 a.m., boated 30 keepers, 15lbs to 25lbs. Great day on the water.

Had Steve L and his boys on board for a half day of Cape Cod Bay striper fishing. Caught some open water keepers on top water baits, then moved to the shoals and did the same, with some fish taken on the fly rod. Dropped the kids off and returned to the scene where I had caught some very nice fish a few days prior. We were thrilled to find them milling around, actually encountered about a football field-sized school of bass to 30 lbs. All in all a great day on the water. Everyone went home with a smile except Steve who will be scarred for life for the refusals on the fly.
